60g herbal tea

Healthy Crack

AUD$44.90

About this

This is the coffee replacement herbal tea. This is kind of like caffeine but not quite. This is how to catch the buzz without the come down. This is high energy on a slow release while also not causing a lot of the strange feelings that come with coffee. This is highly stimulating — like a healthy crack you could say.

About you

You like feeling buzzed. You like the stimulating effects of caffeine but perhaps there are certain things about coffee you wish you didn't have to deal with. You like a morning beverage that gets you going (but not straight to the toilet). You like not having a crash at 3pm thanks to your morning pick me up.

Key Features

  • Stimulating
  • Theobromine containing plants
  • Coffee alternative
  • Perfect morning ritual
Nature

Healthy Crack is stimulating in nature. With South American Guayusa and cascara, the outer shell of the berry of the coffee plant, this tea helps you catch the buzz of coffee without the actual caffeine.

Taste

Healthy Crack doesn't taste like coffee. It tastes more like... healthy crack? Earthy notes of guayusa meet the tartness, sweetness and caramel-ness of schisandra, elderberries and cascara. To top it off, lemongrass imparts an easy lightness and refreshment. The taste is overall balanced and without bitter notes.

Effects

The effects of Healthy Crack are stimulating. The baseline of this tea is guayusa, which contains theobromine, an alkaloid that also lives in the cacao plant. It's stimulating and promotes wakefulness. However, as with cacao, guayusa's stimulating effects taper down much slower than with coffee, preventing that 2pm crash.

Cascara, the outer shell of the coffee berry, contains small amounts of caffeine that add to the stimulating effects.

Lemongrass is added for aromatherapy effects to stimulate the senses.

Uses

Add it as a healthy substitute for coffee from time to time! You could even use it as a way to get off coffee if that's the next resolution.

Use Healthy Crack as an afternoon pick me up that doesn't leave you up until the wee hours of the morning.

Who

Healthy Crack is for those who want to catch an energy buzz without having to drink coffee. Because this blend is highly stimulating, caution is advised to those who are sensitive to stimulating substances or those who have serious heart conditions. This blend's stimulating properties make it inappropriate for children under the age of 15. It's vegan!

When

Best consumed in the morning or early afternoon. Drinking Healthy Crack before bed can make sleep hard to come by.

How

To make, pour 150ml boiling water over 2-3 heaped tablespoons. Simply add more to make a stronger infusion. Allow to steep for at least 5 minutes to extract the bioactive compounds. Strain and consume.

Sourcing

All ingredients are 100% traceable and unadulterated. Medera aims to manufacture products with ingredients and supplies from Australia. However, some herbs are not grown locally or are not grown to organic standards. Therefore, Medera sometimes uses herbs of non-Australian origin. Medera is 100% transparent about the sourcing of each and every ingredient in each and every product.

Ilex guayusa (guayusa) is grown on small, family run farms in the Ecuadorean Amazon.

Cymbopogan citratus (lemongrass) is grown in Egypt and is Australian certified organic.

Cascara is removed from coffee beans grown in Byron Bay, Australia.

Sambuccus nigra (elderberry) berries are grown in Poland and are Australian certified organic.

Schisandra sinensis (schisandra) berries are grown in China and are Australian certified organic.

Medera's biophotonic glass jars are made in Switzerland and sourced from Australian suppliers.

One of the beautiful things about shopping for botanical products at Medera is that you can do a beautiful thing for the world and the environment.

Medera's product comes to you with absolutely zero plastic. Every last detail of Medera's packaging is plastic-free:

  • Biophotonic glass jars
  • Compostable bubble mailers
  • Cardboard shipping boxes
  • Greenwrap or biodegradable bubble wrap
  • Compostable sticky tape

Medera makes a huge effort to purchase from suppliers that also boycott plastic so that Medera doesn't produce a lot of waste making products for its customers.

Medera chose biophotonic glass jars for its packaging because of its unique ability to block UV light. UV light degrades compounds in botanical materials, especially aromatic ones. Oils are also prone to rancidity after exposure to UV light. Biophotonic glass jars mean that your jar of tea or body oil can sit right on the bench without being compromised by light (such as what happens with amber bottles). They should be reused when you've finished indulging in their insides because they're high quality glassware.

All compostable packaging products can be composted at home. Simply use them the exact same way you would compost your green waste, and they will break down into organic biomass. The Greenwrap can be recycled like any other cardboard.

We think about every step in the manufacture process and try to innovate a new way of doing things at every step of the way. We know that every part of the manufacture process has a footprint including transport, packaging and delivery. We aim to reduce that footprint in every way possible — and we're always excited to tell you how we did it.
